I hope you're enjoying your Sunday! As you may have seen on our Instagram earlier this morning, my day started with a certain puppy begging for a belly rub.
I mean, as much as I would've appreciated sleeping in a little bit longer, I can't complain about waking up to Hudson's sweet little face!
Anyway, today I wanted to share with you a makeover I did sometime last summer of a lowboy buffet. For those of you who don't know, a lowboy buffet is just a buffet that sits lower to the ground. I'm not sure how others like to use their lowboys, but I thought this one looked great under my back dining room windows.
Let's start off with the befores and afters.
I found this beauty while scrolling through Craigslist one day, and instantly fell in love with its charm.
Have you ever shown up to a Craigslist meeting and been completely surprised by the actual size of a piece? I feel like no matter how many times I test the measurements, the pieces always look so much smaller in person! Every time.
When I brought this home, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the top. All of those scratches and water marks needed to go. After some serious sanding and a little help from my wood stripper, the top was good as new!
For this design, I had pictured a two-toned look. I decided to go with a chalk paint I'd make myself using Behr's Sonic Silver, and then a dark wood stain for the top to give it a dramatic farmhouse look.
It was important to me to be able to highlight the original hardware, so the light grey paint color was perfect!
I especially loved the top silverware drawer this piece had. I'm not sure if it was the organizing geek in me or what my deal was, but I love a good silverware drawer! My future house will definitely have room for a dreamy buffet with a silverware drawer (among many other things my tiny city house does not).
Oh! I almost forgot! I wanted to give you guys a sneak peek on a project I'm going to get my hands on soon. 🤗
Eeekk!! The entire set. The ENTIRE set! 😍
The buffet, the table, the chairs, all mine. I've got big plans for these things and cannot wait to share them all with you! While it isn't in my possession ((yet)), it has been set aside for me by a family friend. We're just working on a time that works best for both of us to meet up so that I can bring it home with me.
No idea where this will fit in our little house (next to all of our other furniture pieces waiting for homes), but I'll keep you posted on that as well.
Thanks for stopping by!
