My WFH status due to COVID-19 is still pretty fresh for me. But there’s just something about being within these same walls day in and day out that has me really taking my self-care to a new level.
Like most, I haven’t put makeup on in WEEKS! And I think I’ve only worn a bra maybe twice. No, three times. And you know what? I kinda love it!
Of course what is going on in our world right now is terrible. Borderline traumatizing at times. And I’m following all of the rules. I haven’t left the house since my company asked myself and the rest of the design team to work remotely. I’ve been placing online orders for groceries and necessities, and if they don’t have what I need available, I jump online and figure out a way to make it. Only once has Dane had to run out as a minor emergency. Lenna is teething like crazy, and the Motrin went a little faster than we were prepared for. You can read more about that here.
Aside from DIY Cleansers and Homemade bread recipes, this experience has really opened my eyes to homemade health remedies. So for those of you interested in a few natural ways to help yourselves, look no further! This book is everything you could ever imagine.
The contents even breaks it down by system for you. From natural herbs and essential oils to immune boosting foods, this book is filled with so many good things.
I think I’ll come up with a design for an outdoor garden table for the hubs to build so that I can start a mini herb garden. And I’ll definitely be adding some of these super foods into my next grocery order!
For me personally, working from home has been so stressful! I always dreamt it to be peaceful. Like, I would wake up and have a cup of coffee outside while I listened to the birds. And then I'd come in and sit in my beautiful office on my fancy computer and I would be so productive.
I'm even laughing as I write this. What a joke! I get up, and pray SO hard that none of the dogs make a noise, or that my coffee pouring doesn't wake Lenna. Because when she's awake, productiveness is a hard thing to achieve. She's 9 months old right now. She's in constant need of attention, and to me, that's stressful as heck when you're trying to get things done!
So you best believe Imma be ordering me some of that Rose Essential Oil for a back massage! ;)
If you're interested in picking up a copy of this book for yourself, you can find it on Amazon here. And if you do, let me know what you think you'll try first! As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
Happy quarantine everybody!! Anyone else gone their entire quarantine (so far) as a free bird? I'm talking no makeup, no bra. It's been amazing. A real treat. Although, I do miss seeing the more put together version of myself each morning.
I’ve been working from home now for a little under 2 weeks, and realize that I’m totally a grazer. I snack all day. If I’m thinking about it, I’m eating it. Zero self control. Like, if I don't take control quick, I'm going back to work weighing as much as I did eight months pregnant. And honestly, I'd really like to see a flat tummy again.
So I figured the only way to outsmart myself was to only order things that I don’t feel shameful about snacking on. These rice cakes satisfy my carb cravings, give me the crunch I need to survive another day, and taste SO damn good!
Chicken Jalapeño -melted cheese, coleslaw, shredded smoked chicken, topped with a jalapeño.
This one can prove to be a little dry if you don't buy, what I consider as the 'normal coleslaw'. Hubby just saw 'coleslaw' on the grocery list and thought the dry bag was good enough. Although, there are plenty of recipes out there for a coleslaw dressing if you want to make your own!
Pepperoni Pizza -pizza sauce, melted mozzarella, topped with pepperoni slices.
Does it get any better than this?! A low-cal 'personal' pizza? I'll be honest. It kinda felt like cheating when I bit into this one. But OH EM GEE, it was so worth it! Just note that the rice cake acts like a sponge when you go to melt your cheese, so really be sure to pile on that pizza sauce!
Taco Style -guacamole, sour cream, salsa, topped with black beans.
Mkay, if I could only make one suggestion with this one, it would be to eat this one outside on a hot sunny day. This one took my quarantine to Mexico (before kids). Like, a real vacation while stuck at home. But if I could make two suggestions, my other would be to have your favorite cold beverage close by.
The 'Quarantine 15' is a thing, and I'm not about to fall into it. Anyway, I hope these ideas help you through your quarantine snacking dilemmas, and as always -thanks for reading!
